The view from Chateau Gaillard, Richard Lion Heart built a huge castle here in Normandy overlooking the Seine to thwart his arch enemy Philippe Auguste of France. It took just two years to build it and the only thing left now is the view and a jumble of broken towers.

A recent trip to France for three weeks gave me the opportunity to experience another culture in joyous and lavish detail. There are over 50 covered bridges in Oregon, we had time to find just two of them but will definitely go back. They remind me of my dad's childhood in Indiana. They had these bridges too.

This farm outside of Cottage Grove was so idyllic and beautiful. T. called these big hay rolls cow marshmallows when he was very small. A whole flock of turkey vultures was holding court in the field too. Recent mowings must have unearthed mouse nests which attracted them all.

I loved this pack of Kayaks on the green water. They were taking a river tour with a guide and looked happy to be on the water. Shooting some mild to wild rapids along the way, I wished I was with them.
